Sports journalist John Wray at University of Sunderland

March 31, 2009 by Josh Halliday · Comments

John Wray's 'Leeds United and a Life in the Press Box'Documenter of Leeds United, John Wray, is at the University today talking journalism, sports and a career reporting the beautiful game.

John has covered Leeds United since the days of Revie and Clough and, apparently, had a “big bust up” with the latter. It will certainly be interesting to see what he makes of the recent Clough/Leeds United biopic, Damned United.

So come along to Reg Vardy room 113, St. Peter’s campus, at 1pm today. If you can’t make it, InJournalism will be live-blogging direct from the talk so join in (below), send in your questions and we’ll do our best to get them to John.

Jenson Button’s heroics at the Australian Grand Prix left many Formula One team owners and drivers scratching their heads.

After all, they had just witnessed a brand new team, that was formed less than a month ago, claim a one-two finish in a race that will go down in history as being one of sport’s biggest shock upsets.

But the fact is, it wont be such a shock for some. Read more

This Week’s Top 10…

With bold colours dominating the winter months its back to basics for Spring Summer as Peache’s, Beige’s and pale Grey’s make a comeback.  As seen at London Fashion Week designers such as John Rocha opted for a more subdued collection which although looked flesh coloured, showed very little flesh at all.  This spring is all about layering…with loose cardigans, sheer blouses and tailored trousers this trend is chic and fresh.  Here’s a few of the best pieces out there:

British heavyweights poised to prove their critics wrong

March 29, 2009 by Alfie Wilkinson · Comments

The way in which someone reacts when they are written off is a true mark of their character.

Since the birth of boxing British heavyweights have had to put up with sneering, ridicule and elitist attitudes, mainly coming from the other side of the Atlantic.

Just a handful of our boys; Bob Fitzsimmons, Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno have ever held a respected world title.

Herbie Hide, Matt Skelton, Michael Bennt and Henry Akinwande are also on this list, but the belts they won barely deserve a mention. Read more
